1990 525 clutch problem..wth is goin on?

clutch just loosely goes in and out without engaging....can't seem to find the problem at first glance....push rod problem?....something possibly loose or became disconnected?....any suggestions/helpful advice very much appreciated

I assume you checked the hydraulic system fluid level leaks etc.
have someone look under car to see if push rod is moving when pedal is pushed.If it is not it is either clutch master or slave cylinder. If it is you will be dropping tranny to check throw out parts and pressure plate.
