Question 92 Buick LeSabre Engine Stumbles Sometimes During Acceleration

Hi, I have a 92 Buick LeSabre. The Engine stumbles sometimes (not always, but noticing once every day) during acceleration.

By "stumbles," (I may not be using the right word) I mean that the engine seems to be revving a few times and could stall.

It will stop if I take my foot off the gas and let it coast for a few seconds. Sometimes it will stop if I accelerate further into a higher speed.

It seems to happen most during 45-55 miles per hour, though it has happened occassionally at lower speeds... I have never noticed it above 60 miles per hour.

Does anyone have any ideas about what may be causing this???

Usually, what you have described is called "spark scatter", in technical slang. Replace the plugs, wires, fuel filter and check your fuel pressure.

By the way, “spark scatter” is caused by applying high voltage from the coils, to weak wires and- or, worn out plugs. Electrical current will travel the source of least resistance. In auto engines, that "least resistance" source is the nearest ground!
