cold start circuit

87 camero, 2.8 liter, 87,000 miles.
Can anyone tell me how the cold start circuit is suppose to work between the switch and the injector?
Also, is there a way to test the circuit.
Thanks in advance.

Re: cold start circuit

Well I dont believe you have a cold start injector. Is itthere did you check? There should one small sensor next to the thermostat housing. Thats the CTS. And if you have the cold start injector its the big one in the manifold somewhere with the connector like the injectors have. They fail sometimes if the car overheats a lot. IF you experience problems starting, running rich, or overheated alot the CTS and the Cold start switch thing might be cracked or deformed some how(both of them). Just pull them out and take a look and then go to a junk yard they are like $3 bucks.

Also if the CTS doesnt work the fan wont come on.
Thres a test to test your cold start injector for being plugged. Check the internet.

Re: cold start circuit

The cold start switch works as a thermistor all the time. It gives the info to the comp that engages the cold start injector at start up ONLY. It's never on when the engine is running. Hard cold starts can be caused by it. (not much thoug, lotsa cars dont have it)
