Question Rear end drone

Hi,
I have a E36 323i Convertible 1997 92K miles.
From around 40mph upwards I hear a drone sound coming from the rear of the car. It seems to change in pitch when I go round left hand corners.
I suspect that it is due to the rear suspension or drive shafts, certainly around that area. It is definitely not engine speed related but road speed.
Anyone had this experience and can help in diagnosis??

Re: Rear end drone

Could be a wheel bearing.

How about bearings in one side in the rear? Seems like low mileage for bearings to go, but sounds similar to a bearing failure I had once. Turning in one direction made the sound go away almost completely, while turning in the opposite direction increased the noise. Also road speed related -- was a drone/vibration type noise like the one you describe.
