Question Unusual diagnostic code?

On my way home from work today my check engine light came on.

When i got home i used the Off-OnX3 to get the codes.

First 12 (i recently disconnected the battery)
Second 42 (i believe this is related to my faulty gas gauge)
Third 42
Fourth 72
last was 55

My questions are:
Why would 42 blink twice?
What is code 72?

I have a 1997 JGC limited 5.2l

Re: Unusual diagnostic code?

there is no code 72, maybe you misread the flashes, go to this site for a complete explanation of code 42.

yeah i looked everywhere for code 72 but could not it defined...
I checked three times...the digital display and the corresponding blinks show 72.
Regarding 42: i was hoping someone could explain while it comes up twice in the sequence of diagnostic codes.
