96 GST vs. 97 Z28
Tonight i was out at the meet meeting some people who were interested in making me a member of their team which is a car club based out of Chicago, the person in particular i was meeting drove a 97 Z28, her name was Carri. All in all it was a cool night, a good turnout, and a lot of attention from the cops, so everyone decided to go out of their jurisdiction about a half a mile away. Hung out there, a couple guys talked shit and couldn't back it up, a good night.
So on the way out to go home Carri looks at me and says "wanna run em?" Me "I dunno we'll see on the road" Her "ok" So we get out on the road and i leave it in third gear at 40 mph because i know i'm going to be racing in about 10 seconds. Sure enough she gets right a long side me and after a few seconds of toying with each other she goes WOT, so i drop it into second and take off...talk about whiplash.. I stay even with her through third and most of fourth, then i slowly creep to her back fender, and eventually she gets about a half a car length on me before we shut them down. She started talking shit(jokingly) about how i got beat by a girl.... We come to the stop light, light turns green, i get a pretty good launch i come out even with her back bumper, although that's as close as i ever got and she eventually put a half a car on me again. All in all i was pretty impressed with my little black car. Can't wait to get some more mods done to her. Polyurethane mounts coming in a few weeks, then the EBC... JJ |

So is your 96 GS-T stock? If so that's pretty impressive that you kept up with her. Was she a z28 SS?

GReddy Upper and lower intercooler piping, HKS SSQ, HKS filter, Koni struts, skunk2 coilovers, HKS catback, 18" Arospeeds, and Apexi Turbo Timer. That's all i have done to it so far. Camaro had DR's and Header back exhaust. It was a 97 so it was an LT1 Z28.

Re: 96 GST vs. 97 Z28
nice man, great run, to bad you were not AWD you would have killed her out the hole with a 6,000 rpm launch and she would not have been able to recover lol. Thats what i do
But great running man with a FWD against a z28 from a dead stop.

Re: 96 GST vs. 97 Z28
Just the other night I'm crusing long side a Caddy STS (previous gen 97 or 98) w/ the northstar V8 32valve driven by my good friend. We stoped at the red light and give each other that look. While sitting there at the red light I'm positive this guy is going to eat my car. The light turns green, we launch and I'm in front by 1.5cars, he starts coming up to my rear fender @ about 60mph, and @ 80mph we were side by side. I decided to close the throttle since we are in a 45mph zone. I'm pretty sure that if we kept going he would slowly passed me, but was very impressed nontheless considering im not even boosting. At the end of it all he told me that he was racing w/ his traction control on, which slows him down.
