Question Overheating?

I have a 98 GTP w/ 82,000 miles on it. I noticed the other day my radio display was being crazy. The next day I noticed that the car gto hotter sooner than normal. I notice that while driving the temp stays fine but at idle or slow speeds it creeps to about 210. I replaced the thermostat but no change to issue. Any ideas ?? Thanks

Re: Overheating?

some rise in temp at prolonged idle is normal, unless your car just started doing it. I would check the operation of the cooling fans, as one may not be coming on.

I just replaced a water pump today and thought only the gasket blew. The parts counterman pointed out that the fluid was leaking out the weep hole. The pump was going bad and the temp had gone up 10 degrees. Yours---possibly a water pump going out? If you can, the pump has a weep hole---see if leakage shows there.

Re: Overheating?

once the car reaches normal operating temp, turn the A/C on for a minute ....look to see if temp goes down...like Rich said it may be a cooling fan....why it could get hotter...from a cold start, sooner than normal..i dont know
