Questions...

Well the good news is I got my car back finally...yay! The bad news is I had two codes....P0100 which is a mass airflow sensor code....and P1165 which I have no effing clue what that means...the thing is, usually if you have a MAFS problem, the car runs like shit, and my car runs fine...at least I think it does...anyone know the symptoms of a MAFS failiure?
EDIT: P1165 - Swirl Control Valve Control Vacuum Check Switch
okay, what the FUCK does that mean?

Re: Questions...

I should be charging some mullah for advice like that. Shit, I'd make some damn good money:

Customer: "Hey, my cars "check engine" light just came on. Any reason?"
Civ: "Cause it's a piece of shit...?"
Customer: "Oh, that explains alot."
Civ: "That'll be $49.95 please..."

Friggin awesome. I'm going to do it...

they might've not unplugged the battery when they took the tranny out, so they probrably had to unplug the maf to get to the tranny. so they probrably forgot to plug it back in and tried turning hte car on. they realize sometimes wrong then plugged the maf back in. so it threw a code.

the swirl control valve vacuum sounds like its something in the intake manifold. i would think its something for emissions because swirling of air generally would mean its getting a better burn.

Re: Questions...

Tat, swirl control is the secondary butterflies. It just keeps air velocity high at lower RPMS aka better drivability.

First, just try resetting the ECU. Remove the negative cable from your battery for like 30 minutes. Maybe even just remove it overnight. Codes shoudl go away and if they come back, ongoing problem.

I would check the connection on your MAFS. If it is not plugged in, the car will run fine until you enter open loop operating mode AKA hard acceleration.

Your Swirl control valve vacuum check switch is prolly just a vacuum sensor that tells the ECU how much vacuum your car is pulling and determines other parameters based on it. Check vacuum at idle and maybe run a simple resistance test on that sensor using a multimeter.

Oh yea, Get a Factory Service Manual.

Re: Questions...

If your MAF sensor is bad you'll get a lot of random sputtering and stalling....at least you should...weird.

Swirl control valve
When triggered by the electronic control unit, this throttle body mounted valve generates a cone shaped spray pattern through multiple radially arranged metering holes. Atomization is achieved by swirl and rebound action instead of pintle lift.

^Gotta love reference books
