Exclamation lack of power with check engine light

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated here! I have a 2001 Tacoma reg cab 4 wheel drive and recently the check engine light came on. It shakes roughly when it idles and has lost power. I assume it is running on three cylinders and have had the spark plugs changed. no help there. Brought to the dealership and they cleaned cylinder 4 connection at coil insulator. This helped for about 3 miles then back to shaking and check engine.... Anyone have any ideas and is anyone else fed up with their Toyota dealership service actions?

Re: lack of power with check engine light

What code is stored in your computer - related to the "Check Engine" light?

Re: lack of power with check engine light

Bring it to Autozone if you have one in the vicinity. Dealer or a friendly mechanic would be able to get that for you also.

I have a 95 Taco and had a similar thing happen to me. Took it to Auto Zone, put it on a code reader and found out the cat. converter was going bad. Don't know if this helps but it might give you a starting point.
Good luck!!
