Question 98 Taurus Side Marker lights won't shut off

98 Taurus SE

This only happens once I turn the lights on, when I shut the car off, the side marker lights won't shut off?
I have to disconnect the battery to shut the lights off, very frustrating?

Any ideas, I'm a complete stranger to the underneath of my hood but willing to learn!

thanks for any help in advance.

Re: 98 Taurus Side Marker lights won't shut off

In most cars, when you turn the headlights or parking lights on, it simply activates a relay. Could be that the parking light relay is sticking and when you disconnect the battery, it causes the relay to reset. As far as where to find the realy and how to fix it, your guess is as good as mine...

After several mechanics taking a look at my car with no luck and plenty of suggestions to replace the entire wiring harness, it was solved by my Son-In-Law! the prob was a simple.... sigh a. bent. fuse.
