Arghh Help!!
okay, so ive asked this question a million times..well more like 3.
my car dont move w. trans in gear. okay: 1) it does shift with no load (i propped rear tires up, revved engine, it shifted fine) that means the governor is fine, right? and that the gear shifting itself is fine 2) it was working TOTALLY fine, until a couple weeks ago, and it just totally stopped working so my question is this: is this almost 99% guarenteed that its the clutch/friction plates fault? is it possible for me to change the friction/clutch plates? it cant be the oil pump cuz its still shifting, right? btw, whats the difference between a "band" and a clutch? could this be because of a bad "band" ? its going to cost me over 1K to buy a new transmission, but if i can just change the friction plates, it;ll cost me less then 300... please help. this pontiac formula firebird has been nothing but trouble.. >_< im beginning to despair purchasing a 3g fbody.. i thought it was awesome cuz i had a camaro..but this f'bird's just been giving me major stress. |

You lost me.
Auto or stick?? I wasn't able to clearly determine that by your post. And I am not sure what the oil pump has to do with it shifting.
