**1996** Rodeo Keyless Entry
I have searched, and found 37 threads for 1998, 1995, 1999, etc., but nothing for 1996. I bought the 96 and just got the Fob for it. I tried jumping through the hoops for the 1998, but it doesn't work. I just discovered something though... the trunk pop (bottom button) work. So now what do I do? The power locks work. And the light on the fob lights up when I press the top button, but the locks don't respond....

Mine was a PITA too... i had to program it 2 or 3 times to take effect. the company i bought it from sent it to me with a battery that wasnt full strength so i had to put a new one in, and finally that did the trick.

Re: **1996** Rodeo Keyless Entry
96-97:
Controller for remote keyless is located under the driver seat. If you look under the driver seat from the rear seat side you will see a green button on the rear of the controller. 1. With key in off position have someone push and hold button. (a pencil is useful here) 2. Turn key to on position 3. Security light at left of instruments will come on steady 4. Quickly push door latch button on remote 5. Security light will click and then go out 6. Turn key to off position and then back to on 7. Security light at left of instruments will come on steady again and after a few seconds start to blink 8. Push rear hatch button 9. Turn key to off position 10. Have helper release button on controller

Re: **1996** Rodeo Keyless Entry
Great! Now the remote works. But only sometimes. And, am I supposed to hear a chirp when engaging/disengaging the alarm?

Re: Re: **1996** Rodeo Keyless Entry
Question - Did reprogramming your remote with the previous instructions work? And did you ever figure out how to get the chirping back on when you engaged/disengage the alarm? I am having the same issues for my 1997 Rodeo, I used these bogus programming instruction for a remote and all I ended up doing was deactivating the chirping for the alarms.

Re: **1996** Rodeo Keyless Entry
I had stated that my issues were resolved with the Keyless Entry. Right?
So I was just looking through the manual the other day. Turns out I have an entire 10 page book on how to reprogram the Keyless Entry. How to engage and disengage different options like valet and auto arm. Also how to clear all programmed fobs and reprogram new ones. Anyone want me to convert this to PDF and put it up? Is there a place we can put documentation like this, or would someone wanna make it a sticky? |

Re: **1996** Rodeo Keyless Entry
My apologies. I have scanned and cropped the entire booklet. It's in PDF format.
You can download it here: www.geocities.com/mdphoenix/96rodrem.pdf Sorry it took SOOOOOO long! Since I've moved on to a new truck I haven't really been paying attention here. EDIT: For some reason, Geocities isn't letting me link to it. Just copy the www through .pdf into your browser and it works just fine. Please let me know if you have any issues. |
