2002 WJ h-valve issue?
Hi guys, hope someone could shed some light on this issue. I have been having problems with my air flow threw my vents. After running the air condition for no specific time the fan is blowing but I am getting no air flow threw the vents, however when I shut it off for awhile I get the air fow backand then after time it still blows but have no air flow, when I set the fan speed to hi I get very light air flow to do anything. This does happen when in heat mode aswell. I took it to the stealler and they are telling me that it is the h-valve. Service guy nows f@#$ all when I asked what the h-valve does exactly. What does it control? can I fix? can't figure out exactly what it or how it controls the air flow. Anyone? I have done a search on the h-valve with no luck. Well I didn't ask him if I could fix it! but can I?

It's a valve with two passages running horizontally, and a sort of plunger that goes vertically through the middle. Your refrigerant runs through there, and when it gets too cold, it restricts the flow of refrigerant to the evaporator. When the refrigerant warms up a bit, it lets the refrigerant flow again. This is done to prevent the evaporator from freezing.
The problem you've having is that your evaporator is freezing, preventing airflow. Replace the H-valve and you'll be all set. This is grease monkey reply from another forum! Thanks, |
