Unhappy Can Someone Please Give Me Some Insight..?

Hey guys, insight on jogging....

I'll tell you this, 3 years ago i went from 280lbs to 200lbs..in about 7 months.. I lost the weight mainly by dieting and light exercise like walking, slow jogging etc.. When i weighed 280 i couldn't jog for more then 2 minutes..and i'd be dead out of breathe..so i took it easy.. When i reached 200lbs, i could jog for 6 minutes tops, get out of breathe..then go for more-this was jogging at a faster pace also...

NOW, lol...i'm losing weight all-over-again...i'm up to 240 but i lost 10lbs already.. I want to be able to jog for like a half hour straight..or more.. I seriously want to accomplish this. One of my dreams has been to be able to be one of those joggers that can just run and not get tired....but i just cannot last long.. EVEN when i was 200lbs and in shape, i couldn't "little by little" jog for more then 6-7 minutes at a time...i tried doing like an extra 15 seconds a day..but it never worked..

Here's another thing, i'm 5'8 big boned (i'm not bullsh*ting..lol..i'm not fat, i'm big boned) and by friend sai that even when i was 200lbs, i was still a good deal overweight... I've been to doctors and they said i should be 170lbs.. They also said that if i was 170, i'd be able to jog for a long time..and accomplish my "long jog-or distance" goal.

PS, one thing i'll never forget...weight is literally like wearing a back pack with weights in it...so my Dr said imagine weighing 170..then having a 30lb back pack on...there's the reason. Should i go down to 170..?

Do you think if i weighed 170...i'd be able to jog, or atleast WORK UP TO like a 30 min jog..?

PS, no health problems here..thank god, so jogging is goooood...except for the fact that i'm a FAT BASTARD...for now. Lol, it's funny how the girls don't come my way like they used to...jeez..

oh man i can't stand jogging.....i ride bike, hike, and swim....jogging is just too mind numbing for me...but...it works pretty well to lose weight as you have said....but your doctor is missing a detail....i have skinny ass friends that can't run for more than a minute and some of my fat friends can almost run as far as i can....it really doesn't have much to do with your weight to an extent....i mean as long as you're not obese and can move around pretty well i think as long as you keep running reguardless if you lose wieght or not you should be able to get to your goal....just be patient man....

When you get out of breath, DON'T STOP.

Everytime I go back to running, I have to push myself beyond my breaking point or I don't build up my endurance at all.

he's got a point...push yourself hard, just don't get heat stroke or anything...lol...and if you lift weights it helps your endurance also....just some light lifting has help some of my friends improve their mile time and endurance...

The diet..?

Basically, and no bsing...3 meals a day...SMALL MEALS...

No soda/no ANYTHING that had calories (drinks that is-except coffee) and lots of water-well, just like 4-5 12 oz glasses a day.

In that timespan i was also working 55hrs a week...so i couldn't keep coffee away. Coffe is good cause it curbs the appetite and speeds up your metabolism-i believe...

As far as meals go, breakfast was oatmeal, no sugar..lunch fruit and mabye yogurt/coffee after...then dinner either chicken w/rice or maybe one slice of pizza..

If you go nuts at night, have a bowl of cereal w/skim milk...always helps.

-Do the above, and walk/run 4 times a week and you'll drop weight FAST..

Just so you know, eliminating coffee alone would probably make you lose about 5-10 pounds. I believe it makes you retain water or something.

I dont drink coffee. 95% of my liquid intake is diet coke. Its the shit. Oh, and i go for qauntity not quality, so if I drank regular coke, I would be a good, 300 pounds lol.

Doctors don't know shit when it comes to the body weight index. My senior year in highschool my Dr. said that I should weigh 165-170 pounds. I was, at the time, 5'9" and weighed 190 lbs. I was lifting weights 4-5 times a week for an hour and a half a day and running a mile 5 times a week. I was in damn good shape. I had a 46" chest and a 32" waist. I could bench way more than my body weight and could squat a small car. He still told my that I should lose weight. If you want to help your cardio, walk a mile a day fast enough to keep your heart rate up and when you lift, use a lower amount of weight and higher reps. Good luck.

For LONG TERM health, being muscular is not all that good for you. A weight of about 165 and a fit heart at 5'9" is probably the optimum if you want to live to be very old.

NOT drinking coffee will not make any differance in your weight.. It curb your appetite, and yes it makes you retain water-but not much....did plenty of reading on that..

Doctors always go by that govt scale thing, some people..like you redneck tech, where in excellent shape..and it doesn't matter if your at that "ideal govt weight bs"..

For me, believe it or not i could have dropped to 170 from 200 at that time cause i basically "settled" at 200....cause i was very happy with myself. Yet i still had a minor gut and was a 36-38 waist...

I still feel jogging is the best exercise, if your knees are up for it..and lifting weights is second....lifting weights is essential though, after all..a man should be able to press his own body weight..AND be ble to do atleast 3 pull-ups.

How long do you jog? If you can only run for about 6-7 minutes straight and only do this 2 or 3 times then maybe start trying to slow your pace so you can jog for 30 minutes straight. I am now running 5 miles a day (or slightly more if i get a wild kick) and believe me it took me a while to get up to that even though I am in good shape. My weight fluctuates often depending on if I am trying to put some muscle on or if I am trying to lean up. The extra weight doesnt make that much of a difference, you just have to get your heart and lungs used to it, take your time.
