90 transmission pan reseal?

I am going to be re-sealing the transmission pan on my friends 1990 Taurus. I was just wondering is there anything out of the obvious i should know before doing this job? As far as i can tell its just a matter of draining the fluid taking the pan off and cleaning it up, then replacing the gasket and put it all back together.

Any added info would be awesome
