voyager keeps cutting out

ill try to be more specific.my 97 voyager cuts out about 2 seconds after i turn the key.this happens repeatedly.fuel is ok,but the l.e.d.mileage/trip counter and the temp. and fuel guages do not function.all the other flashing symbols come on ok.any ideas?id apreciate the input.

The newer vans have a feature that if the VIN# in the various computers don't match, the engine control model assumes the vehicle has been stolen or altered or there is a major malfunction and the engine is immediately shut off. Since your gauges are not working correctly, I would assume that one of the modules are not reporting the VIN # and triggering the shutdown, probably the one that controls the gauges. That is where I would start for a solution. I think it is the Body Control Module that is responsible for the gauges, but I'm not sure.

that sounds expensive,but latest news-i hit the dash board above the steering wheel(not hard)and all the lights came on and the car started and didnt cut out!is this a common fault or did you guys ship me a turkey over here just for a laugh?
