Really stiff new clutch

Hey, just put a clutch in my 1995 tsi awd, at 80k, and the clutch pedal feels really stiff, i dont know if im just over-reacting, and it feels really different because of the new clutch or what. But i got the feeling today that the clutch was slipping, i know it isnt but just the same feeling, like 6000rpms in first gear and hardly moving, like if you get on the gas to quick the rpms just fly up... and the pedal also takes a second to start coming off the floor... should it be coming up immediently???... any and all comments or advice would be appreciated!!!

Re: Really stiff new clutch

I would say not a problem with the new clutch, but in the hydraulic system somewhere. slight chance it could be the throw out bearing sticking, but very slight.

Hmmm...I would give it a couple of days to a couple weeks to break it in. Also don't be dogin or anything for the first few hundred miles. The symptoms you named about clutching kind of sticking and taking a second sounds like the problem I used to have. The clutch fluid resevoir was low and once I filled it up it was all good. Also might be the slave cylinder going out but I dono. I would just give it some time and check your fluid levels.
