Entertainment system

I have a 2002 Chevy Venture WB edition.
When we got the thing I didnt know that it was supposed to come with a remote for the entertainment system.

Guess what...dont have one now.

Does anybody know where I can get a replacement?
I have been all over the internet and cant seem to find one.

Any help or suggestions are much appreciated.

Re: Entertainment system

If you want factory equipment, you likely will have to go back through the dealer. You might get lucky on eBay or a junk yard, but I wouldn't hold my breath. Be prepared to have to pay an arm, leg, and possibly a kidney for a replacement factory system.

If you just want aftermarket, many electrionic stores sell partial and complete systems that may integrate with existing wiring (if any).

Is any part of the system (DVD, VRC, wiring, brackets, etc) still present?

Re: Entertainment system

Every thing is still there and works.
Some movies dont require the menu selection that requires a remote so they work fine.

Re: Entertainment system

Doh. I misunderstood you. I thought you were saying that the displays weren't there, not just the remote.

That obviously changes my response. Dealer probably would be the best bet still for a exact replacement part though.

Have you tried universal remotes? You may check over at Remote Central's Forums for more help. You may also be able to program a JP1 (sold under the All-4-One and Radio Shack brands) remote if you can get the codes from someone with a functional remote.

I have a 02 WBE also and you do need the remote to control everything (screen size, day/night, input modes, etc.) except play stop and eject. The most important remote functions being navigating the menus.

I guard the remote with my life and know exactly where it is 24/7.

I think the only solution is to see if dealer can order one. Otherwise I don't think you will find any. Goodluck.

Re: Entertainment system

I have a 03 WB with a remote that works fine. If I was a betting man, I say that I could teach one of the cheap learning remotes the same codes as my factory remote. This usually works fine if the codes are not complicated and I would bet they are not. However, you do need a factory remote to program the learning remote. If you can not find a factory replacement, I could try to teach the commands to one of remotes that I own, if successful you could send me a cheap learing remote and I could teach it the commands at no cost other than shipping it back to you. Just an option to spending allot of money (I haven't priced this part but ...) but will take some shipping time, Steve

Re: Entertainment system

You mention "day/night" functions......have you found a way to dim the screen? My Montanavision doesn't seem to have a dimmer, and it's too bright for the kids at night.

Am I missing something somewhere? It is not mentioned anywhere in the manual, yet the service manual wiring diagram implies there is a dimmer function.

Any help would be appreciated.....Glen

Re: Re: Entertainment system

Glen, I agree with you night brightness comment. I will look at my Venture tomorrow and see if there is a menu option on mine. I was also interested in the comment made earlier about features that I was not aware of. Will let you know shortly with my Venture, Steve

Glen,

I have an 02 Venture WBE and on the remote there is a "display" button and one of the options is day/night. BUT ......

I have to tell you that there is not much difference between day and night modes. Night mode is still way too bright at night. Solution: I have a 20% limo black window tint film applied to a piece of hard plastic (window grade so it is really clear, don't know the name of it) and it is velcroed to the screen border to put on at night and take off during the day. My kids eyes are not watering at night anymore.

My 04 Envoy has a Panasonic DVD system and it has continuous brightness and contrast control that I wish the van had.

Re: Entertainment system

No such luck....my remote doesn't have a "display" button. But like many things on the 03 vs. the 02, I think they probably cost reduced that out....I do like the idea of the tint, though.

I thought the other day that they might have tied it into the dimmer for the dash lights, but not so.......Thanks, Glen

Re: Entertainment system

So I found one for $69.00 from the dealer.
$69 for a fricken remote?
Thats bulldoody.

Ill try to remember to get the part number and post it tomorrow. Im also going to try to find out who makes it and see if theres another retailer that might carry it.

Man I have a touch screen remote at home that was cheeper than that. I wonder why we are loosing market share to Japan and Korea.
