Malibu Maxx Hatch Strut Failure

Took my '04 Maxx LS in for routine service this morning and mentioned the extremely squeaky hatch struts (which are driving me nuts and I've been using WD-40 on them for two months) to the Tech. Turns out that mine are both defective and were leaking. They've seen one where they both failed and nearly decapitated the owner.

So, if yours are squeaky, get 'em replaced (under warranty, naturally).

I always seem to bump into problems that I don't know are an issue.....
