99 voyager with rough idle and check engine light
The code say's number 6 misfiring. The mechanics had me change the valve and head gasket, tune up and fuel injector on numbers 5 and 6. They also checked the electronic coil.Nothing has worked so far and I think they robbed me out of a lot of money. Problem ocasionally goes away for a couple of days but always comes back?

Re: 99 voyager with rough idle and check engine light
when it comes to a misfire, there may be a hundred different reasons why it misfired, there is alot of troubleshooting involved, but for a reputable mechanic who knows what the hell he's doing it shouldn't be a problem to diagnose and fix on the first try. i suggest finding a different mechanic

I have a 98 Dodge Grd Caravan with both the cylinder 6 misfire and now the rough idle. I have replaced spark plugs & wires, distributor cap, fuel injector on number 5 without any results. I am thinking about replacing the O2 sensor, I think this may be the problem. Most of these items are maintenance items that need to be replaced anyway. When I get around to replacing I will let you know if it has worked.

I had a misfire code on a 99 GV. I had a intermittent rough idle for a long time. Finally got a misfire code. Turned out to be the spark plug. The porcelin below the electrode had a white spot indicating arcing. Code gone and idle smooth.
Good Luck |
