95 HVAC problem

when i turn the fan on (any setting; ac,heat, vent, etc) air only blows out of the defrost vents. Before it would only happen periodically but now only the defrost vents are blowing air. any help/suggestions would be greatly appriciated.

Re: 95 HVAC problem

check the vacuum hoses going to the round vacuum ball in the driver's back corner of your engine bay. The line going to the vacuum ball will often degrade or come loose. Replace that small section of hose with 5/32 windshield washer hose.

Also check the that the vacuum hose is connected to the back of the plenum near the passenger side of the distributor cap.

today i found that the vac hose at the back of the upper intake had completely broken in half. it was completely dryroted. i replaced it with a spare vac hose and problem solved, vac guage says 19-20lbs at idle.
