Crankshaft Pulley Seperated

I just got significant work done on my 99 Cherokee 4.0L, including a new steering damper and serpentine belt. That being said, when I started her up yesterday, I heard a loud clanking sound. I checked under the hood and the fan could no longer spin, because it was jammed up against the Crankshaft Pulley. The outer-rim portion of the pulley just came off. What the hell?

Thoughts?

How much will this cost?
Could the crankshaft itself be damaged? The motor still runs, so I'm assuming it wouldn't without the crankshaft, but then again, I don't know anything about cars.

This sucks. Anyone want to buy a black 99 Cherokee Sport?

It sounds like the harmonic balancer on you crankshaft seperated and jammed the fan blade. First with the serpentine belt off chech all your other pulleys that they are not bent, and that they all spin free and without noise. Check the water pump carefully. The crank shaft pulley assembly will need replacing, it is a complete assembly. Belt will also need replacement. Questions holler Dale [email protected]
