Question 1995 Caravan Check Engine Light

Hi.

I live in Norway, and have a 1995 Caravan, 3,3L which I've had since it was new. It runs great. The car is regulary serviced and in very good shape! It has 90k miles.

Two weeks ago the Check Engine lamp started to light after about 5 miles. I stopped the engine and started it again and the light went off. I then drove about 50 miles and the light was still off. The day after I had the car inspected and told them about the Check Engine Light. But since it now was off, they wasn't able to find any error code. They also did a full service of the car.

Now the Check Engine Light come on periodically. Sometimes after 5 to 15 miles. And sometime not at all.

Any ideas?

Br,

Re: 1995 Caravan Check Engine Light

Same issue with a caravan I own, it runs fine but I noticed a burning smell comming from burning tranny oil after it comes on, when I shut the car off light goes out and after driving a bit comes on agian. If you find the prob post it maybe it would help. Speacialy theres no way to pull the codes.

No burning smell with my car. I've read that it might be the Exhaust Gas Regulator sensor. Could be? I'll check it out.

Re: 1995 Caravan Check Engine Light

mine does the same thing and I'm pretty sure the EGR is the cause. I've been meaning to open up the throtle and intake plenum to do a cleanup job. I did that to my car about a year ago and the EGR port was completely blocked by gunk. After that the SES light has never come on again, but since I don't have to worry about emission testing in my area I'm not in a rush about doing it.
