Wow AC thanks for the first pictures, I see that high price doesn't incloude anything special, there are also no white decals for portions that should represent tobaco signs, so another 1000+ yen for additional decals. Man I am diverting to resin kits soon because the price is almost the same.
Edit: now I see black stripes for white portions that should be painted on.

Agreed. Reminded me that Tamiya did the same with the 2003 Peugeot 206. Maybe it's a win-win situation for Tamiya and other decal companies.
But the price (3,000yen) is still acceptable when comparing with those resin kits (for e.g., the 03' M1 conversion kit costs 8,800yen, but it's not a full kit).
However, when comparing to finished model, it's a different story. I'm quite sure Tamiya will release this bike as a finished model in the future for around 8000~9000yen. If you buy the model kit + the upgrade front fork + the pe stand, the total will be 6000yen. That means if you pay 2000~3000yen more, you will get a professionally built kit. It certainly will distract a portion of current modelers. But business is business, nothing we can do with Tamiya. Besides, I still enjoy the process of model building (until I'm too old to handle a model knife ).

3000 is pretty steep... It's fun to see this kit on the market though. Modern GP = a lot of fairing details to be painted wich is always a lot of fun.... I'm glad to see that Tamiya is holding on to the separate front disc parts, makes it easier to do them justice.
Thanks for sharing A C!
/Joel

I think 3000Yen is still acceptable. (In my country it costs twice as much) Although there is nothing special innovative things in the kit, it cost 400 Yen more than previous bikes. This is not so nice from Tamiya. Plus the P/E stand is very expesice. For this price you can buy a full set of highly detail P/E part for an airplane model. Also the fork is quite expensive (I bought it for the YZR-M1 to save time, and it really looks cool)

Now we can wait for the Kawasaki

Hi AC, congrats to have that kit in this early....I miss HK a lot, where I can spend two hours in the modelling street in MK. Is it "water goods"? Keep us posted
