Re: stuttering

I know a guy who used to, very badly. Now he virtually never does. I'm not sure exactly what he did to fix it, but I just assumed that as he grew and his confidence (or lack of caring about being cool) grew, his stutter gradually disappeared

Re: stuttering

Try the available links. I do it on occasion... mostly because I'm thinking faster than I can talk.

N..N..No I've n..n..never s..s..s..s..s..stuttered.

No I'm not mean because I can get away with it.

When I was little I stuttered so bad I had to go to a speach therapist. I had to go for several months because my parents were afraid I wouldn't be able to talk right when I started kindergarden.

I was finally able to get it under control and I talk fine now. There are times though I'll be talking and I'll get tongue tied and some words I just won't be able to say.

Yeah that happens to me a fair bit too. I've never really "stuttered", but I'm not typically the smoothest talker around

Re: stuttering

I'm the same way the rest of you are. I don't normally stutter, but when I get excited about something or am thinking way faster than I can talk, I start to.

Re: stuttering

I think it's both. It has something to do with Brokaw's area and some other area of the brain and the way the words are changed into syllables that your mouth forms. Insert some more intelligent explanation here. And there you have it. Why you stutter.

Re: stuttering

I talk too damn fast.

Go see a speach therapist. Should help you loads. My dad knows people who stutter worse than stuttering John from teh Howard Stern show.

Re: stuttering

When I'm nervous, or really pissed off... yeah (I sound like I rode the short bus to school ) (ok, that was mean, I'm sorry) and it was much worse when I was younger.

But having to interact with new people and be assertive on a regular basis for the most part stiffled my nervousness and my stu-stu-stu- (huff)... abnormal speech.
