2000 Olds Intrigue Alternator Help
I need to replace the alternator on my wife's car but unsure as to how to get it out. Any advice? Looking at other comments, seems that others have had problems as well. Any comments, suggestions would be helpful. Almost positive it is the alternator.

Re: 2000 Olds Intrigue Alternator Help
Before you do a switch read all the posts on this forum about the alternator so you make sure you get the right one. Do a search for alternator. Alldatadiy.com has the diagrams and info you need for $25 a year. That's what I use.
There was an update to the original design due to some having a collapsing electrical field due to "vibration" they say. This would cause the headlight to dim etc. I have a 2000 Intrigue but my problem seems to have went away. But it's worse in the winter. AlldataDIY.com has the Information and vin# breakpoints and the new part #. I would buy the new alternator design ($150 RockAuto or local) (or the Bosch unit ~$500) if your vehicle experienced the headlights dimming etc. The damn Bosch unit is expensive so the GM unit may be the way to go, if it doesn't work bring it back for a refund.
