What's up fellas? I owned a 97' Maxima and the engine blew, so I replaced the engine from a Maxima from 99'. Does anybody know if a 00', or 01' can fit my 97' Max? I've seen a 00' engine and it looks the same as a 99' engine. Any help is appreciated, thanks.

Re: Engines
If you are gonna go with a new engine, go big or go home: VQ35.

Re: Engines
The VQ35 probably won't even fit, plus I'll probably need to change the tranny. I'm trying to do this with least amount of money. I got the 99' engine from a crashed Maxima for $500, and installed for $400. However, I think that there might be water in my engine.

Re: Engines
The VQ35 will fit in your 4 gen, with the same tranny u have but will be a lot cheaper to throw in a 95-99 VQ30.
The main difference in horsepower on the 00-01 is the intake mainifold.
