97 stratus rough idling/stall after timing belt change

hi i just changed my timing belt on my 97 stratus 2.4 l dohc engine, the timing marks are all lined up and timed right, i have to use the gas to start it and keep it idling, when im in drive and going down the road it runs fine til i have to stop and im at an idle, we dont think the valves are bad, any help would be appreciated thanks!

if you didn't have this probem before the T change you didn't do something right. i have made mistakes before to, when i could have sworn that the marks were all lined up right but had the same problems you have. its hard sometimes to see all of the marks clearly and even then when you put tension on the belt, things move alittle. it sounds like your one tooth off somewhere. if you done everything right you sould have no problems at all, you shouldnt even have to adjust the timing. your going to have to recheck everything sorry to say.

alright, i have a question for you, im gonna tray it again, but how did you have the marks all lined up before you put the belt and where should they be when everything is timed right, thanks!

Question

I am having this same problem and have tried different sensors to no avail. I was wondering if you got the problem fixed and what you did to fix it. I am lost now as to what to do!!!!!

96 stratus has rough idle and stalls

I have just replaced my timing belt and i have the same symtoms of stalling and rough idling. Did you ever resolve your problem?

yea, i got it fixed car runs exxcellent now, took it all back apart messed with the timing a few times and come to find out i just kept getting the timing marks off ALL 4 lines meaning each 2 on each cam must all be in a straight line hope this helps!
