2000 Explorer Sport keyless entry code location?

I just bought a 2000 Explorer Sport 2-dr (traded in my 96 4-dr); it's very foxy, but I need to find the location of the keyless entry code. Does anyone know where it is on this car? Mfg date was 10/99.

Many thanks!

Actually, you guys have already been so helpful as I was reading - I would never have known that I had to get a special ignition key for it, or it wouldn't start. The dealer gave me one key, one remote, period. I was all set to go to Home Depot and have another key cut - that woulda been useless!

I was under the assumption it was programable. I didn't think each one was given just one code, but I could be wrong.

I should have mentioned I bought the car used with no manual from a Toyota Dealer. I think you could program it if you had the original factory code, but I don't have even that. Anyone know where I can find it without paying an arm and a leg? I already had to spend for a new remote and key, since finding out that the key has a chip in it and a hardware store version of a duplicate may open the doors, but won't start the car. Man, you'd think they'd mention that, wouldn't you, if they're only giving you one key and one remote?

I had the same problem with my 99 sport, but on mine I found it on the rear drivers side panel in the cargo area. (where a spare tire would go, remove panel) It's kind of tricky, but you'll need a flashlight. Hope this helps.

Considering the fact the code may have been changed, the easiest way to get the code would be to have the Ford dealer pull the code in the vehicle's keyless entry module with their scanner.

it doesn't matter if the code has been changed.the factory set code over rides any new code that may have been put into it.in other words, even if the code has been changed it will still respond to the original code.
