91 5.0 V8 stalling after engine start

I have a 91 T-Bird with a 5.0 V8 and after i start the car, it runs at 1200 RPM, then it drops to 700 RPM. After a bit, it sounds like the engine is having problems with gas (but it's a full tank) and she dies. Any ideas on how i can fix it? Maybe up the idle?

Don't mess with the idle. It is designed to do exactly what you describe.

How long does the car have to sit before you can start it again? Silly question but really low coolant can cause your problem.

check also your throttle body, make sure you don't have any built up carbon on the throttle plate and in the area for the idle speed motor, get some carb cleaner and clean off any excess carbon that maybe built up.

Immediatly right after it dies, i can restart the car, and it will do the same process over again. As for the coolant, it's full. I did the main checks for a solution for the problem, but this one has me stumped.

Re: 91 5.0 V8 stalling after engine start

look inside your throttle body for black carbon that has been building up over the years. You should also notice an indentation or a dimple area in the throttle body, that's designed for the idle speed motor to allow air to bypass the throttle body, make sure it does not have an excessive build up of black carbon deposit on it as well, that could lead to problems during idling.
