I am considering towing 2 fourwheelers with my 2002 Grand Am GT. Has anyone heard of any problems that this may cause? or have caused? the weight of trailer and quads are about 800 lbs. I know it can be bad on the transmission but I do not have any other vechile that I could use. Any suggestions would be appricated.

Re: Anyone ever tow with Grand Am
I don't think the weight will be an issue. If it's only you (and one passenger) max riding inside; the added 800 pds shouldn't be an issue. I believe the max added weight (including passengers / anything being towed) is 1200 pounds. So that would be essentially 5 200 pound passengers, and 200 pounds in the trunk. You should be fine as long as you don't get above 1200 pounds of added weight to the car.

Re: Anyone ever tow with Grand Am
I know a couple people who tow boats with thier GAs. I havent heard of any problems, as long as its close to, but not over, the total weight capacity.
May consider a trans. cooler if you are towing far distances or you notice transmissions acting funny.
