Temp and Compass Wiring Question

I have a 01 Silverado which is a base model (not a W/T). I bought it for substantially less than an LS or LT and figured I could make the conversions myself and have a loaded truck when done.

No power door locks, no power windows, no power seats and no compass or outdoor temp gauge. Now I know there are a few of these trucks out there and I have been able to pick up the LS door panels with the power switches and a set of GM window regulators, both wiring harnesses for the doors, power seats, an aftermarket power door lock kit with keyless entry, and a overhead console with a temp and compass out of a 97 Chevy Blazer (without MPG indicator).

Now comes the tuff part. Installing all this stuff so it actually works.

1) I have checked to see if there is a factory plug-in above the headliner for the compass/temp mirror that comes on the LS and LS models, there is not. My overhead console came with the temp sensor; I just need to know how to power it up. Any ideas?
2) What is the best way to power up my factory power window conversion? I have not looked for the factory plug and play under the dash but judging for the overhead compass/temp wiring not being there, I am assuming I am not going to find what I need already there. Any help?
3) The power seat connections I have been told are sometimes under the carpet but if it isn’t what is the best method?
4) One last thing. I upgraded my base radio (AM/FM only) with a GM Bose CD radio with the speed sensing volume option It doesn’t seem to work probably missing a wire or two in the original factory radio harness, any ideas?

I know this is a pretty extensive list and most of you are saying, “why not just buy an LS LT in the first place?” The reason is simple, $8,000 in savings compared to buying $700 worth of parts out of a wrecked one. If you can’t afford to keep up with the Jones’ just buy smarter…

buy a helms service manual for your truck

will give you all the wire scematics an component locations you'll need to try and wire it all up

Thans for the book advice. I am interested if anyone else has done any of the these conversions. I would share what I find out along the way as well.

Go for the service manual! The money it will save in the long run makes getting it a no-brainer. I installed a compass/temp mirror in my '01 LS. The harness was in the headliner, but I had to wire the sensor and found out where in my service manual.

Did you ever get the compass/temp pod install figured out? If so I would appreciate any info you could give me as I was thinking about doing the same thing in my 02 silverado

Not yet, maybe Chrismas vacation though. Either way I will post how I wired the compass and temp pod.
