Temperature Gauge roller-coaster
1997 honda passport
3.2v6 1.at idle the temp needle rises and drops automatically at acceleration 2.changed the thermostat.....still did it 3.changed the fan clutch.....(this is my dad's car so he bought that. Id have saved my money and tried something else.) I've narrowed it down to water pump......(vehicle does not make excesive noise which I would attribute to a faulty water pump) ANY INPUT WILL HELP |

I'm gonna say this is normal, unless its actually overheating. The temp gauge on my Rodeo is always going up and down in stop and go traffic. You might just be a little low on coolant too.

Re: Re: Temperature Gauge roller-coaster
sorry guys, I should have specified that it goes all the way over. to "H" if you don't take off. i won't let it stay there long becuase im scared to but it doesnt even think about goming off of the h until you take off. but as soon as you move foward it cools off.

Even though you replaced the fan clutch but are you sure the new one you got isn't faulty?

If you spin the fan clutch by hand and let go, it should stop almost emmediatly.

Well, mine did that for awhile until I topped off the coolant. I was only low by about a 1/3 of a gallon.
