94 Z28 beat a 98 LS1 T/A

i just got done beating a 98 Trans Am a4 with my 94 Z28 m6 we both have similar mods he's got a cold air intake with full exhaust no cats and i've got SLP cold air with hooker cat-back along with an air foil and we had several races from a dead stop and a few roll ons, when doing the roll ons from about 10-15 mph i would have a car length on him all the way up to about 60 or so then he would just get past me and then by the time i hit 4th gear i was pulling on him pretty well i ended up having about 2 car lengths at 100 mph

needless to say i am very proud of my Lt1 with just basic bolt ons

(by the way we kept it safe we were on an old abandoned runway where nobody could have been put at risk)

Re: 94 Z28 beat a 98 LS1 T/A

Well that is strange indeed, although from a roll and top end the 6speed has a advantage but I would have thought that the power advantage of the LS1 would have more than made up for that. Good kill in my book and does he have 2.73's do you know?

yeah i asked him after we got done we both have 2.73's in the rear end

i thought it was strange as well i figured i would have him off the line and then he would cruise on by me but i got off the line quicker he reeled me in for a little bit got a nose on me and then that was it i started pulling on him and kept pulling on him til we let off at probably 100-110

Re: 94 Z28 beat a 98 LS1 T/A

If you have a M6, then you do not have 2.73's unless they changed your gears and differential which is highly doubtful. So your reason for winning was largely to due with a major gear ratio advantage but still quiet impressive because of the disadvantage power wise but some simple changes like gears or headers or so on can have major changes as you saw by the win. Very nicely done.

Re: 94 Z28 beat a 98 LS1 T/A

Over here in NY and NJ they race all the time late at night on industrial roads that see no traffic at night. There are plenty of places to do semi safe racing.
