My friend had a manual trans GS-R Integra and had an alarm with remote start. I've looked online but all I've seen is for fuel injected automatic trans. cars. I want a quality alarm system w/ remote start. I know I'm gonna need extra parts to have remote start for a manual trans but I wanna know what companies to look at. And also, is it a hard install to do myself?

Re: Remote starters for Manual Trans.
Kcg795, Nothing. But where do you see a car alarm section? I looked for one but didn't see it. Being that it is something that PROTECTS your car audio I thought this is where I would get the best input. But thanks for your great input, it was very helpful... And Thanks Mikejonessss, I'll look into them.

Re: Remote starters for Manual Trans.
why fool with it? that is my question. your parking break should NOT be your only source of stopping the car from rolling, it should ALWAYS be in 1st of Reverse especailyl when parked on a hill.
Also, the first time you forget to leave it in neutral and you go to start it, its going to drain your battery like no ones business...if not overheat your starter... |

Re: Remote starters for Manual Trans.
intersting tidbit to add to the topic. I read on some news site, at one of the big expensive car auctions, some guy wanted to show off how perfect his lamborgini countach (sp?) ran, Well, he used his remote starter, and left it in 1st.
Well, it started instantly allright, then it hit a porsche....hehe |

Re: Remote starters for Manual Trans.
Well after thinking about it, and taking everyones input I'm just gonna pass on the remote start. Cuz I thought about all the times I left the car in 1st in my civic and forgot when I started the car then had it stall out on me and bump a few cars. By the way, anyone have a good alarm in mind that has a 2 way LCD remote that alerts when the car is opened/hit with good range? Or are they just overrated?

Re: Remote starters for Manual Trans.
no problem, i use to have an ole dodge, it would start the truck in first gear, didn't care. you leave a 2 ton dumptruck in gear(unloaded, don't know about loaded), you crank the starter, she'll move (till you jump on the clutch).

Re: Remote starters for Manual Trans.
i have a Pheonix Digital PD-175...beleive it or not it isnt a bad alarm system, i truely have a nearly 3000ft range (my truck was parked in the teachers parking lot 1/4mile-1/2 mile away and i was in the football stands, some kid rolled by with a loud system and it started vibrating in my pocket)
Its siren isnt all that great but it is a deteriant, they have door triggers, starter imboilizers, door lock/unlock, trunk pop (not being used obviously) and it does have rem start but since my truck is a manual i dont use that (or the immobilizer). and they are quite cheap, ive had it for over a month and its been working great so far. |
