check oil light when car is started

i went on a trip and when i got back i dropped my buddy off at his house, started my car and the check oil lihgt was on. it went off after a minute. this morning when i started it up same thing. i checked the oil it was fine and the levels were good. i changed the oil a few thousand km early since i was going on this trip and if i didnt change it i would have been over, could my computer just think i needed a change? i did that gas pedal trick to get the light to go stop coming on when i start the car. but im confused as to why that light came on. i hope my pump isnt going
