2000 Denali Turned off at red light

I have a 2000 Denali 4WD. I havent had any problems with it. Its actually been one of my best vechiles Ive owed. Anyways, I was on my way back from a 5hour roadtrip this weekend and when I was coming down one of the overpasses, I felt it jerk a little...like when your tranny is going out and a gear slips. I immediately stopped...but everything seemed fine, so I continued home. About 15min later, when I was stopped at a red light, and it turned green, I stepped on the gas only to notice that it had turned off. Does anyone know whats going on? I dont want it to leave me stranded somewhere...so, its parked in my garage...

Hi,
the vehicle is full of sensors and computers.
Please go to a place like Autozone, have the DTC's (Diagnostic Trouble Codes) read and post them.
Changing the fuel filter may be a good idea, it is often neglected.
Cleaning the throttle body may help.

Ohh ok! I will take it to AutoZone probably tommorrow. FYI: The fuel filter has recently been changed. Thanks for the help!

O2 Sensors????
If you haven't changed them in a while it might be the problem, again something thats overlooked.
These sensors are chemical batteries that generate a voltage depending on the concentration of oxygen remaining in the exhaust. They tell the computer about the O2 level and it adjusts the mixture to make it right. Problem is that these guys have a tendency to drift in their old age and give the computer bum dope.
My Olds van would stall like your Yukon, it would drive fine but under certain conditions the engine would quit. I finally got a code which said that the sensor was spending too much time in the rich zone(telling the computer to lean the mixture). Changed the sensor and all was good.
You can go to Autozone and see if you have set any codes yet, or go to:

and get a OBDII decoder for about $100 and read out all of your sensor data and codes on a laptop or PC, like the big boys at the dealership.
In any case you should replace the oxygen sensors if it hasen't been done in the last 50K Mi. Replace only the upstream sensors, the ones ahead of the CAT, the ones after the converter only check the CAT performance.

I appreciate all the help yall gave me! I will defintly take a look at that. I was going to take it Autozone so they could hook it up on Friday...but I have alot of problems going on with my grandmother and her health...Anyways, dont think I have forgotten though. Thanks for the help!!

Hey Guys...Im back....dont think I forgot. I took it to Autozone and since the "Service Engine Soon" light wasnt on, it didnt spit out any codes. The culprit came out to be the fuel pump. They are alot of money and all they are is plastic...oh well..it needed to be done. Thanks for the help!
