question for jekyl (about cams)

i noticed on your site that you used staggered cams .... you have 272 on the intake and 264 ibelieve on the exhaust i was wondeting what lift you were using on each and also why you didn go with 272's on both sides or even 272 on the exhause and 264 on the intake? And do you thin its possible to build a 3SGTE that can go to a reliable 8500 rpm with a fully built head ? ... what would be good cam set up for that .... or is there something i can read on how to pick cams ?

Re: question for jekyl (about cams)

I am not a cam expert by any stretch of the imagination. I poke around and ask questions from people much smarter than I am to figure out what I am doing.

MR2s, when built right, can easily rev to 8500 rpms.
I am revving Hyde to 7500-7750 now and it is mostly the original engine there.

I do have a 272 intake and a 264 exhaust cams.
On a turbo car you want to have a larger intake cam when staggering. My cams are longer duration, but OEM lift.

I had a very in-depth article on why to stagger this way, but I can't seem to find it

Re: question for jekyl (about cams)

oh cause i know some turbo cars have very large exhaust valves to i assume help flow and i was wondering if that theory would be the same with cams ... Im trying to look on the MR2OC but they say sometihng about modding the bearing and oil pumps to pump more oil at higer RPMs .... now im lost.
