95 S10 4x4

my 95 4.3 made a pop from the motor like a backfire and died while driving. Now it won't start, just turn over. Getting plenty of gas, not sure about spark yet. Also had a strange smell while cranking but not like being flooded. Can anyone help?

dude it sounds like it could have jumped time . thats a good possibility.
maybe timing chain or belt not for sure what the s-10 has. what kind of smell are u smelling. check to make sure it is firing on all 6. check for cracks in dist. cap. check simple things first maybe u will get lucky.
let me know how it turns out. good luck

I hope it's not the timing chain. I would like a quick fix like a cap, rotor, and/or ignition module. I've been reading a lot of posts about fuel pumps going out so I also hope I am getting the right pressure. I will look into everything this weekend. Thanx.

yes check to see if it is getting fuel.that is not a real hard job but rough if your by yourself. lift the side of the bed up that fuel pump is located.
it is in the top of tank. this is easier than dropping tank .
