Radio Problem

Hi
I have a 98-99 Passat with no AM signal at all and a pretty weak FM signal that can drop out at any given time. When I turn on the interior light or use my indicator or even turn on the heated rear window, you can hear the "pop" of the change in the electrics. I have done some testing after reading stuff on here and this is what i got:

BNO T:4
FERN AUS
GALA AUS
VERS 30581003

Any ideas what this means and how I go about fixing it would really be a help to me

Thanks in advance

Fallon

one of your antenne cables is shorted. Most likely the easiest ( antenne mast and base). But also the long long cable that goes from mast to shifter area goes bad also. Thats normally on wagons.

Thanks for the advice
Should I take it to a pro or is it something that could be solved without much trouble?
I looked inside the headlining today and saw the aerial lead and securing nut, but haven't done anything as of yet, what should I do next?

The arial is a 22mm. I would suggest buying a 22mm stubby (6inch) wrench at a cheap tool store for 10.00 and replacing the antenne yourself. ( dealer would problably charge 100.00 fo replace it)
