i've got a 2000 stratus with a 2.4L engine, where can i get performance upgrades for iT?
Also, i'm looking at putting american racing polished silver sniper rims on it. what is a good all season tire (i need one because i live in mt and can't afford both summer and winter tires, my current ones work well in all conditions but my rim size is changing) to complement? NEone have a comment on how these will look on my car (its red)? Last edited by soccerwolf12; 09-08-2005 at 01:11 PM. |

Thanks, what brand was it? I've seen K&N ones, but i've heard horror stories about them on Fords.

I've had the same problem. I went on eBay and got a new air intake and it gave me a little boost and a better sound. Also went to a shop out here and had them install an aluminum(sp?) cat back exhaust, 2 1/4 inch piping, a high flow cat, and a Magnaflow muffler. That made a real nice difference and once again improved the sound. I've contacted the Jet Perfomance chip people and they make a chip but you have to call them and special order it. Other than that I'm stuck. I've considered going to one of the fabricators out here in Vegas and having them custom build me headers. New tires are next though. All in all it actually gets up and moves pretty nice. It's no racer but it sounds great and it still gets great MPG. Hope this helps.

Re: performance for 2.4L
Thanks, do u know how much it costs for a chip? I'm a college student so money is tight. what are the best upgrades for the money? Can you cam this engine, or turbo or supercharge the 2.4?

Re: performance for 2.4L
DOHC headers for a neon should work on the 2.4l (same head). I've heard of some people putting the Neon DOHC intake manifold or the INDY intake manifold on the 2.4l. Claims are that the Neon Manifold gives about 10hp increase in the high revs. I would think that low rpm torque would suffer though. You may need a reprogrammed ECU or piggyback system for the engine to run right with a different manifold. The people that used the Neon manifold used it because they transplanted the 2.4 into a neon and they used the stock neon dohc controller.
