Emission crap removal.

I have some old question about safe removal of the smog stuff. Let me know if I am wrong

EGR: dont thing that anyone should mess with it. The thing is usefull no doubt.

CANISTER: Piece of crap. Does it use manifold vacuum or it just sucks thru the throtel body? on 305/350 TPI engines. I checked the book and it looks like this is the second.

PUMP: junk that should be removed if the cat is removed. I also have 3 belts not 1

CAT: Junk for tree-huggers. How do I retain suitable backpressure in order not to loose torque or run too lean/rich? Considering that the exhaust is aftermarket? Is there a test to get the backpressure just right? Pipe sizes, mufflers.

How does it all affect the computer?

Re: Emission crap removal.

there is no reason to do any of that. the emissions "crap" is there for a reason. and does not cost much if any hp. and for those tree huggers, i dunno bout you, but i like to breathe, the last Z06 made 405hp, got 32mpg on the highway, and did it with full emissions equipment in place. there is no reason to ditch that stuff in the quest for performance. i dunno bout the rest of yall, but i intend to leave the planet better for my kids than it was given to me. and creating emissions spewing gas guzzling dinosaurs isnt how i plan on going about it.

Well put 89.

I'm not a huge environmentalist, but we should all do what we can to avoid adding to such an obvious problem.

Re: Emission crap removal.

Well I just hate that canister and would like to get rid of it. The idea of it just being there and stealing all that space under the hood makes me mad.

I wanna reach the perfection and simplicity when theres nothing left to remove from that engine

I think that if you go for removal of this on new vechicles the comp. should be upgrated too. But with 80's cars should be easy.
