axxess won't start

Hi all!
I'm completely newbie to the forum, and I DO NOT HAVE knowledge about mechanics. However, I would like to save a few bucks with the help of my friends at this forum.

I have an 1990 Axxess, 2WD, A/Transmission. I have an Eveready battery, almostr brand new, about 6 months old. All of a sudden, 3 days ago, in ther morning, I felt like if the battery had lost its charge, because I felt that strange sound you get when your battery is going to die. But it only took me 1 try to get it running, no problems. In the afternoon, about 4pm, I had to make several tries in order for it to work (I mean, the car). All of the light in the panel look normal, bright as usual, all of the lights work, I hear this intermitent bell sound, so, I still suppose the battery is ok. When I finally got it to start, I drove home, and with the car running, I measured the volts at the battery with a multimeter, and it showed 14.2 Volts, exactly, at everytime. This was my last chance since I wasn't able to start the car again (still the lights look good). When I measured the battery volt, it showed 12.4.

Some extra information: I have this old alarm system installed, which I do not use, meaning I have the switch for the alarm off, from a long time ago. There has not been any rain lately (a short?), everything is dry.

Please, any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Rianeiro.
