More Problems

OK so my fans went out on ,my 98 neon. Found out it was the relay connected to the inner fender wall, great of chrysler to put it there but hey i got to it and replaced it. Now when i hook up he battery the fans wont turn off, opposed to before they werent turning on.. If you guys have any ideas it would be great to know.. Oh and another thing there is a sensor right by that relay, its balck and it looks like a plastic screw on the end, any ideas, thanks.

Re: More Problems

You may need the temp sensor.I unhooked mine and my fans ran constantly and my car did all kinds of weird stuff. It should be between the 2 left hand runners on the intake as you look at the engine from the front.I hope that helps some.I would suggest a Haynes manual or something similar if you dont have one already.

Re: More Problems

I agree, it would be your CTS or a bad relay, and since you replaced the relay that narrows it down a bit.

That's probably your battery temp sensor.

Re: More Problems

The sensor is located in the front bottom of the plastic battery holder. It has a large 7/8" ish hex retaining nut.

The sensor will drop out the bottom.

How did you determine it was your battery temp sensor?

Re: More Problems

Really dude it sounds like the coolant temp sensor that is acting up on you.Give it a try before you throw any other parts at it.It could be shorting all the way to the relay and causing it to crap out.

Re: More Problems

Ok one last time and I am giving up on you.If the CTS has a short in it it will not give the proper signal to the relay whick will in turn cause a short.Given that it is apparently the only thing you havent tried whats the harm?It might just fix it.
