2001 breaks

I am having a problem taking the bottom bolt out to replace the front brakes on my silhouette. if I am facing the wheel hub do i turn the bolt towards the rear or front of the van to remove it

Yes, (the wise ass answer).
It all depends on which side of the van your on. The old saying goes ...righty - tighty, lefty - loosy. That's from the head of the bolt looking down the shaft.
As I remember it these calipers are held on with a Torx or Allen head bolt recessed in a rubber cup. Why don't you get the Haynes manual at the place you got your pads, it's about $20 and well worth it. It will lead you through about everything you should do to your van, including brakes.
