G.A. replacement headlight parts
Hi friends.. Does anyone happen to know of a reputable website that sells 2000 Grand Am GT1 replacement headlights ? (the assembly; not bulbs)
Mine are cloudy, and I don't like the looks of them. I tried to find them on a Genuine GM Parts website, but it says to only enter a part number ...I don't know the part number of the entire headlight assembly. Has anyone replaced their headlights... and where did you buy them ??? Many thanks. Tommy |

Try www.car-parts.com they are a used parts locator which should be alot less money than new ones as they run over $200 each.

Re: G.A. replacement headlight parts
a headlight assembly from the Dealer is expensive. If you dont find lamp housings on the site skibum1111 suggested, try a local auto body shop they usually can get them for cheaper then GM and they are new. Used ones are probley cloudy too.

Re: G.A. replacement headlight parts
Thanks for that info, xero.... I am leery to get one from a junkyard for that very reason; it will be cloudy too.
I sure wish pontiac would have made the headlight assemblies a higher quality than what they appear. I guess I am not alone with cloudy headlights too... I think there are quite a few of us. I do have a couple auto body shops locally, so I will definitely check into that. Thanks! Tommy |

I think the biggest problem with the newer headlights is that they are made of plastic, which pits and scratches much much easier than the old glass ones.

Re: G.A. replacement headlight parts
Yes, definitely... The entire assembly is plastic. The lens should have been glass, I would think.
And those damn metal clips that have to lift upwards to take out the assembly; those are a nightmare to back in because everyhing has to align up properly for it all to fit. I'll bet that even a pontiac service tech comments about that GM design. I did some limited searching on some websites tonight, and I did locate some aftermarket stuff. Even those were running around $ 88.50 apiece for the assembly. I'll search some more tomorrow; gotta hit the sheets here now and get up early tomorrow. Thanks everyone for your replies and help !!!
