car alarm question

ok guys, i got a friend who owns a 1995 celica gt, he bought it used and never used the car alarm...(it never worked)

now his battery needed to be replaced and when he gets the new one, the alarm keeps going off...we have looked underneath the steering collumn looking for a seperate alarm system, but i cant find any..

since this isnt my car i dont know much about this one, my question is does this 1995 celica have an alarm built into the prom? if so or not, how can i disable it

all responses welcomed

ps i tried to search but it wouldnt come up with any results

Re: car alarm question

ive got a 1992 GT and it has a factory alarm though i have never used it (i dont have the remote). If he doesnt have the remote then i dont think there is a way to control it. He can go to the nearest toyota dealership, give them his VIN # and they can check to see if he has a factory alarm and also get a replacement remote if he wants. Anywayz, when i replaced my battery i had the same problem. The alarm stops after about a minute.
