Electrical Problems 1996 Park Ave

I have a 1996 Park Ave. The interior lights have a mind of their own, they come on and off while driving down the road. When the lights go off the doors lock again. The door ajar light does not come on. I am also having a problem with the tail lights and dash lights, on and off again. I don't think that the two problems are related. Any help would be appreciated.

My first thought it grounding problems. The door lights could be a shorted wire grounding out since they always have power to the lights. But the door locks makes me think of my 93 LeSabre. There's a ground connection from the dash items to the left of the driver's foot on the parking brake. It's in the side of the car above the carpet. Some people find these are corroded. Little vinegar and then oil and retighten the screw.

There's another connector beside the driver's seat between the door sill and the driver's seat--you can feel the plastic cover when you poke on the the carpet in that area. There's also one to the right of the passenger, but it deals more with rear of car functions.

I'd check the connection from the battery to the car metal. There's a short black lead from the battery that goes to the front fender. I always undo and retighten that screw when I work around the car doing maintenance.

Does the air conditioning go into a different vent mode and turn on air conditioner compressor occasionally as these things happen? I think mine even changed fan speed -- itwas the manual air conditioning.
