Finally solved my hard starting when cold problem Fuel regulator......

After at least 3 years knowing the car it has always had a hard starting when cold problem. When i bought this car from a friend a year ago he had already replaced the fuel pump as a shop said that was the problem but it didn't change.

After replacing the map sensor and tps sensor because of 2 codes I decided to tackle the fuel problem so after i noticed there was no fuel pressure by pressing the schrader valve in there was really no fuel pressure i noticed there was only fuel pressure when the car was on and as soon as i shut the car off the pressure would die pretty much to 0 although i dont have a fuel gauge.

So judging by the fact the pump is pretty new the only other item i could gather that could be the culprit was the fuel pressure regulator.

so i went to a local junkyard and pushed on the schrader valve of the first lumina i saw a 1990 model and there was lots of gas pressure so i took it all apart and bought it for 18.00 with warranty.

I installed it and as of the last 2 days everything has been fine even the idle is better now that i adjusted it because it always seemed a little high after my friend took the car toa a mechanic once they just adjusted the idle screw so that it would work a little better but the idle was way too high.

Now the idle is perfect and the car turns on great and maintains fuel pressure well.

BTW a new fuel pressure regulator is about $100.00
