Question Driver Information Center??

I just bought a 2006 2500HD off the lot. I was really looking forward to having the Driver info center, however, at this price I couldn't refuse the truck even though it was not a stock option.

Does anyone have any idea if this is something I can add on, or should I just get used to living without it. I'm wondering if the wiring harness is there with the connections just not hooked up, ie I could purchase a wheel with the buttons and be just fine?

Re: Driver Information Center??

The general impression that I've gotten from various topics is that it really can't be added. If you do a search on this forum, I'm sure something more detailed will come up. I sure would enjoy steering wheel radio controls, oil life % display, and mpg display.

Re: Driver Information Center??

From what the parts dept told me, there is really no way to add that without massive changes. Apparently [aka so I am told] you have to change out the steering wheel and everything attached to it! Ick.

Kinda sad too, I'm in the same boat as you with my 04 Sierra 1500. That nice big display just screams "SHOW ME STATS!"
